Where We Have Been:
- 1st Air Force (AFNORTH) Commander (USAF component of USNORTHCOM) authored exercise requirements, interfaced at a senior level with many US Government agencies, and participated as a principal in many tabletop and field exercises.
- Director of Domestic Operations (J-3) for the National Guard Bureau (NGB) (465k+ personnel), responsible for the design, training, exercise and evaluation (along with ARNORTH) of 50% of our Nation’s Chemical, Biological Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosives (CBRNE) forces.
- Director of Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate (J-5) for NGB, responsible for the worldwide State Partnership Program (SPP) (was 60 nations, now 84) gaining extensive experience in working with foreign partners.
- Director of Operations (J-3) for USNORTHCOM, directly responsible for the operational planning, training, exercising, and execution of the CBRNE enterprise. Collaborative senior partner with Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Justice (DOJ), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Ensured strategic objectives were formulated, exercised, and evaluated in Tier 1 National Level Exercises (NLE). Conducted initial, mid, and final planning conferences, including tabletop exercises for senior departmental leaders. Led Department of Defense (DoD) collaboration with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) during Ebola and Zika outbreaks affecting North America. Coordinated with international partners interested in NLE exercises for Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
- Adjutant General for the State of Massachusetts, working extensively with the Governor and local communities during natural disasters.
- Deputy Director for Nuclear, Homeland Defense, and Current Operations (J-34) Joint Staff, the Pentagon, responsible for planning and exercising WMD response working with various agencies, including DTRA and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
- The members of Ardent were responsible for 100% of the CBRNE enterprise, from implementation to Organize, Train & Equip (OT&E) to execution. We designed the construct of the daily forces on alert protecting the homeland, and were responsible for their employment 24/7/365.
- Director of Inspections, Office of the Air Force Inspector General (IG), directed the inspection of all US Air Force operations. Responsible for the policy and implementation of all phases of the Service Inspection System. Led coordination with over 15 Major Commands, and Direct Reporting Units, including direct liaison with all Air National Guard and AF Reserve Command units to ensure combat capability, effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory compliance for improved operations.
- The Ardent Team participated at the senior level in over 50 national and international exercises, including many VIGILANT SHEILD and GLOBAL THUNDER exercises. In addition, three members of Ardent have real-world experience with decision processes regarding the global employment of nuclear weapons.
- Representative to the Al Hillah (Iraq) Security Coordination and the Reconstruction Councils. Coordinated Joint and International security operations for Al Hillah province, working closely with Regional Embassy Officials, Provincial Governor, and Coalition forces to plan and conduct joint operations and assist government reconstruction projects.
- Business Development Director for one of the largest privately held software companies, created and executed the strategic planning for newly formed business unit consisting of 3500 people responsible for $1.5B in revenue.
- Exercise Branch Chief conducted planning, preparation, and execution of Battle Command Staff Training (BCST) and Decision-Making Process exercises and seminars in preparation for US Army Division and Brigade level global deployments. Validated State of Texas disaster evacuation and recovery plans.
- Division Chief of Plans, created Division level plans for US Army Corps Warfighter exercises and authored State of Texas Military Forces airport security response plan to September 11 attacks.
- Chief of Current Operations (J-33) NGB, directly responsible for 24/7/365 National Guard Coordination Center operations. Ensured trained and ready NG CBRNE enterprise forces were available for employment. Responsible for data consolidation to create the Common Operating Picture (COP) on daily employment and status of NG CBRNE forces for consumption by NGB, State, and Federal Agencies. Briefed congressional staffers on NG CBRNE capabilities. Subject matter expert for Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA).
- Chief of Domestic Operations Division (A3D) Air National Guard (ANG), evaluated National Exercise Program (NEP) CAPSTONE-15, a large-scale multi- agency earthquake exercise focused on the New Madrid Seismic Zone. Directly responsible for observing, evaluating, and making after-action recommendations improving communication between affected states and NGB. Communicated the need for a robust Emergency Aid Compact (EMAC) network to provide timely access to resources during crisis events.
- Air National Guard Crisis Action Team Director, authored the Air National Guard’s Homeland Response Force (HRF) transition plan that stood up the 10 HRFs, one in each FEMA region, across the US. Responsible for collection of lessons learned from exercises/operations and inputting into Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS).
- Emergency Management Director for Southbury, CT, directed multiple Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations for Town responses to a tornado strike and COVID-19 response efforts.
